Planned Giving

Including giveDIGNITY in your will or estate plan ensures that future generations will always have a pathway out of poverty. By anchoring our long-term mission, your legacy gift allows us to consistently step into vulnerable communities - providing job training, expanding educational assistance, and preventing violence. Your estate plan becomes a lasting blueprint for restoring hope and dignity to families for years to come.

We have several ways you can make a planned gift listed below.
ESTATE PLANNING
Estate planning is the strategic process of anticipating and arranging for the management and disposal of your estate during your life and after death. It is a crucial step for anyone who wants to ensure that their assets - such as property, savings, and personal belongings - are distributed according to their exact wishes.

A comprehensive estate plan typically includes legal documents like wills, trusts, and power of attorney designations, which not only minimize taxes and legal hurdles (like probate) for your loved ones but also outline your preferences for healthcare and financial decisions should you become incapacitated. Ultimately, it offers peace of mind, protecting your legacy and reducing emotional and financial stress for your family during a difficult time.
Donor Advised fund
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a specialized, tax-advantaged account that allows individuals, families, or organizations to make a charitable contribution, claim an immediate federal income tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund to their favorite charities over time.

Administered by a public charity - such as a community foundation or the charitable arm of a financial institution - a DAF allows the contributed assets (which can include cash, stocks, or cryptocurrency) to be invested and grow tax-free, maximizing the potential impact of the ultimate donations. It essentially functions like a private foundation but with significantly lower administrative costs, fewer regulatory burdens, and greater privacy for the donor.
Charitable Gift Annuity
A charitable gift annuity is a contract between a donor and a charity with the following terms: As a donor, you make a sizable gift to charity using cash, securities or possibly other assets. In return, you become eligible to take a partial tax deduction for your donation, plus you receive a fixed stream of income from the charity for the rest of your life.

Steps on How Charitable Gift Annuity Works:
1. You transfer cash or property to giveDIGNITY.
2. In exchange, we promise to pay fixed payments to you for life. The payment can be quite high depending on your age, and a portion of each payment may even be tax-free.
3. You will receive a charitable income tax deduction for the gift portion of the annuity.
4. You also receive satisfaction, knowing that you will be helping further our mission and help ministries.

If you decide to fund your gift annuity with cash, a significant portion of the annuity payment will be tax-free. You may also make a gift of appreciated securities to fund a gift annuity and avoid a portion of the capital gains tax.

Your Benefits as the Donor:
  • Receive fixed payments to you or another annuitant you designate for life
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction for the charitable gift portion of the annuity
  • Benefit from payments that may be partially tax-free
  • Further the charitable work of giveDIGNITY with your donation
Qualified charitable distribution
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a highly tax-efficient philanthropic tool that allows traditional IRA owners aged 70½ or older to transfer funds directly from their retirement account to a qualified 501(c)(3) public charity. The primary advantage of a QCD is that the transferred amount (up to an inflation-adjusted limit of $111,000 per individual) is entirely excluded from the donor's adjusted gross income (AGI).

This direct transfer can be used to satisfy all or part of your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) - which kicks in at age 73 - without pushing you into a higher tax bracket or triggering increases in income-based Medicare premiums. Because it is an above-the-line exclusion from income rather than an itemized deduction, a QCD delivers an immediate financial benefit regardless of whether you claim the standard deduction or itemize your taxes.
life insurance
If you own a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy to giveDIGNITY. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults.

Your Benefits as a Donor:
  • You receive a charitable income tax deduction.
  • If giveDIGNITY retains the policy to maturity, you can receive additional tax deductions by making annual gifts so that we can pay the premium.
  • If giveDIGNITY cashes in the policy, you will be able to see firsthand how your gift supports our mission.
  • If we retain the policy to maturity, or you name us as a beneficiary, once the policy matures, the proceeds of your policy will be paid to our organization so that we can use the proceeds to further our cause.

You can also designate giveDIGNITY as a partial, full or contingent beneficiary of your life insurance policy. You will continue to own and can make use of the policy during your lifetime. Your estate may benefit from an estate tax charitable deduction. Your deduction for the gift of life insurance will depend on whether the policy has increased in value above the premiums and whether the policy is paid up or there are remaining payments to be made.

To make a gift of life insurance, please contact your life insurance provider, request a beneficiary designation form from the insurer and include giveDIGNITY as the beneficiary of your policy.
Charitable trusts
Charitable Trusts are highly versatile legal entities designed to manage assets for the mutual benefit of a donor, their beneficiaries, and a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. These irrevocable trusts come in two primary structures: Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs), which provide a steady stream of income to the donor or their heirs for a specified term before transferring the remaining principal to the charity, and Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs), which do the opposite by paying income to the charity first for a set duration before passing the remaining assets back to the donor or their beneficiaries.

By shifting highly appreciated assets - such as real estate or stocks - into a charitable trust, you can completely avoid immediate capital gains taxes, secure an immediate partial income tax deduction, and substantially reduce your taxable estate, making it a cornerstone of sophisticated wealth management and legacy planning.
REAL ESTATE
Donating appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, ranch or commercial property can make a great gift to support ministries.

When you transfer a property held for more than one year directly to a 501(c)(3) public charity or a real estate-friendly Donor-Advised Fund, you bypass the heavy capital gains taxes you would have faced by selling the asset yourself. Furthermore, you are generally eligible to claim a charitable income tax deduction equal to the property's full, independently appraised fair market value (deductible up to 30% of their adjusted gross income, subject to standard IRS limitations and deductions floors for itemizers).

Benefits for You as the Donor:
  • Avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of the real estate
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction based on the value of the gift
  • Leave a lasting legacy for ministries

Your property may be given to giveDIGNITY by executing or signing a deed transferring ownership. You may deed part or all of your real property. Your gift will generally be based on the property's fair market value, which must be established by an independent appraisal.
OTHER INTERESTS
Donate other non-cash gifts such as cards, boats, motorcycles, business inventory or collectables.

For qualified vehicles like cars, motorcycles, and boats, your tax deduction is generally limited to the actual gross proceeds the charity receives when they sell the asset, rather than its book value, unless the organization utilizes the vehicle directly for its charitable operations.

For collectibles and artwork, you can deduct the full fair market value only if the charity puts the item to a "related use" that directly advances its mission (such as donating a painting to a museum); otherwise, the deduction is limited to your original cost basis.

For business inventory, donations are typically restricted to the cost of production rather than the retail price, though corporations may qualify for enhanced deductions when donating inventory for the care of the ill, needy, or infants.

For cryptocurrency, You can now securely donate Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies directly to support ministry. Donating crypto is a highly tax-efficient way to give, allowing you to avoid capital gains taxes while maximizing your kingdom impact.

We will provide a detailed receipt for your non-cash donation.
