Systemic injustice perpetuates poverty and violence in marginalized communities.
We believe it does not have to be that way, if the church works to promote justice and opportunities for the poor.

The poor do not need handouts; they need TOOLS:
a safe environment,
an education,
a job, and
the dignity of providing what they need for themselves.
We serve in La Carpio (San Jose, Costa Rica), the largest immigrant squatter settlement in Central America. It's home to about 50,000 Central American immigrants (predominantly Nicaraguans) that have fled to Costa Rica seeking a better life. Sadly, not all of them find it, and many end up living in this slum at the garbage dump.
We empower people to break the cycle of poverty in strategic ways through long-term development instead of short-term aid. We meet individuals wherever they are, from womb to adulthood, ensuring that they have tools for the most pressing developmental objectives of each life stage.
When people are educated, have work that is not exploitative, and live in healthy families free from violence, they have the necessary ingredients to escape from poverty without dependence on outsiders.
